Shanwen armor, a typical Chinese style armor that appeared at least in the Tang Dynasty, later became popular as a general armor in the Tang, Liao, Song, Xia, Jin, and Ming dynasties. Due to the fact that its armor plates are mostly composed of mountain shaped metal plates, it is called Shanwen Jia. It is commonly seen in murals and stone carvings, but there have been no physical excavations. According to the "Six Classics of Tang Dynasty", there are various types of armor in the Tang Dynasty, including Mingguang, Guangyao, Xilian, Shanwen, and Bird Hammer Waiting for thirteen. Early Shanwen armor was only presented as a new type of armor leaf, mostly attached to Mingguang armor. Later, it gradually developed and formed a unique style of armor. Except for the protective goggles that still retain the bright armor on the chest, the rest are completely independent. Shanwenjia has the advantages of beautiful appearance, close fitting, easy repair, and strong comprehensive protection ability. However, due to its complex production and high cost, it is mostly used as armor for military officials and pro military personnel, and its popularity at the grassroots level is not high
